Our Research
As an industry-university research institute, this CNERC branch serves to drive Hong Kong’s transformation into a knowledge-based society to promote its economic growth. By taking the advantage of HKUST’s strengths in science and technology, the CNERC branch has focused on the critical technologies and major engineering challenges of luminescent and biomedical materials.
The objectives of our CNERC branch are to lead and support the technological development of efficient luminescent materials with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and apply these materials and related techniques in biomedical fields to accelerate the industrial adoption of efficient AIE materials, create functional AIE materials with long-wavelength emissions for biological imaging, and develop AIE materials with high specificity for biological detection and medical diagnostics.
